Today I have a girl’s bedroom filled with turquoise and yellows.  I must confess.  Turquoise and I have a love that goes way back.  I think it’s such a classic color and can almost be paired with any color to set the mood you want.  I’ve paired yellow in this girl’s bedroom to give it more of a classic feel.

Now for a breakdown of the goodies:

1. This beautiful Serena and Lily headboard is perfect for this bedroom.  It fits the classical feel of the room, and creates a statement and focal point for the room.
2. This Little House by Annette Tatum duvet is gorgeous.  I love the different shades of blue and yellow as well as the floral design paired with stripes.
3. So not to compete with the duvet, I choose these custom sheeting in a simple white striped fabric.
4. To soften the room, Annette Tatum window treatments in Grande Stripe Sand will do the trick.
5. This Elephant Wall Art by artist Mati Rose McDonough adds a little playfulness to this classical room.
6. This New England Chest from Bradshaw Kirchofer {in slate} is a foundational piece of this room.  It’s beautiful and timeless.

Shades of lavender served as the jumping point for me in this inspiration board of a room for a young girl. However, as lavender is truly a versatile choice of color, the idea soon evolved into hints of citrus accents and delightful little details. Here are some of the elements I chose for this space:

1. This Art Fronckowiack painting truly brings all the hues of the rainbow together, and completely brightens the space. It’s a beautiful art piece to grow with her.

2. The Serena and Lily Picadilly Chair has a feminine shape and classic, strong quality. It would prove to be a great reading spot for years to come, and transition nicely into a desk chair as well for those school years.

3. The perfect complimentary citrus shade to envelope the room in sunshine.

4. Side note: I officially want this Oilo Modern Berries light. The lime color ties in nicely with the bedding and other accents throughout the room, serving as an additional complimentary accent color.

5. This Bratt Decor Manhattan armoire is perfect storage area for a little girl, and topped off wth these knobs, makes it irresistible.

6. These wall letters are displayed in a beautiful font for your little one, in the perfect shades of lavender.

7. and 9. These Annette Tatum fabrics would make a beautiful bedding set. The striped: to serve as a duvet cover, with the others as great accent fabrics, with a hint of piping and ruffle for added detail. They would also make some delightful window treatments. I adore this Rikshaw Design elephant pillow to add an organic, fun shape, and the Whistle and Wink coverlet at the foot with it’s scalloped shape would add a whimsical touch. (In lavender, of course)

8. This Bradshaw Kirchofer Farmhouse bed has a classic, feminine shape, with good bones to last for years to come.

10. These flower wall stickers would make an excellent and quieter accent wall, in a simple white as a subtle contrast to the citrine paint.

11. This Bratt Decor Chelsea dresser brings a luxurious feel to the room with its delicate curvature and rich detailing…again, with good bones to last a lifetime.

I simply love the look and feel of purple with citrus accents. What are some other elements you would like to see here? I think a rich, fluffy white rug would also be nice in the space. The perfect fresh and simple space!

With shrinking homes and growing families, it’s smart of all of us to think about shared spaces — and a full time slumber party for siblings can be an absolute blast! Bunking them together while they are young with good bones and versatile pieces can form memories, bonds, and fabulous design to last a lifetime. Here is a little space for sister and brother, with greys, blues and yellows to really up the ante… and the coolness factor for both siblings.

1.  These Oilo pendant lights add character to the room, and make for great late night reading fests… without disturbing one’s neighbor.

7. These beautiful paintings from artist Todd Clark bring another dimension of color into the room with dark and light blues, aquas, yellows and greys. I especially love the painting of the two birds, seemingly appropriate for a siblings’ shared space.

8. Of course, a nice grey paint ties the room together, quietly.

9. Just a hint of the accessories that could be found in the room: this Rikshaw Design elephant pillow brings in another layer of interest, and can be added to their fabrics for a an additional color. Gender specific accessories can also be added, to further personalize their own little spaces.
