This inspiration board is a tribute to all the hardworking mothers out there who, bombarded by their children, and overwhelmed by the demands of the life, finding themselves a little short on workspace. And peace.

I more than adore my family. Don’t get me wrong. But sometimes, it would be nice to have a little secret room of my own. Where good, handprint-free design is not only a given, but a regular, blissful occurrence. {Can I get a woot woot?} So, here’s to “one day.” When my babes are all grown up, and I finally score such a space…And then wish my babies were babies again…

AH life. Sigh. I guess that’s what grandchildren are for?

1. The chair: makes a statement on it’s own. A beautiful simple linen makes a classic, quiet statement while inviting me to rest my weary back so I can get to more important things at the…

2. The Desk. The classic shape with a soft curving legs, and plenty of roomy drawers with storage completely defines what the room is all about. I completed the look with these complimentary “big girl” knobs from Anthropologie. They’re very grown up.

3. This little brag book is aching to be put on my desk. As is this storage bin. Perfection. And fun.

4. This rug really completes the space and ties all the pieces together, with a nice strong neutral color and design to last forever.

5. The paint is the perfect shade…to balance out, warm up, and compliment the greys and blues in the room.

6. and 7.  This bedding would absolutely make the daybed {which could totally be used as a couch/sitting area, as well.}

The quilt would compliment any room, but is especially true for those early mornings, when you can wrap yourself up in stylish comfort while you sip your coffee and read your daily design blogs Wall Street Journal.

The beautiful aqua peacock fabric below would go pretty awesomely as a duvet cover, and the polkadot fabric could be used just about anywhere, from the sheet design, to a simple, clean shade over the window.

I added the bed (along with the paint chip: stone peeled paint) because I think that realistically, some mom caves may also need to work as temporary guest spaces when the need arises. It’s always good to function on double duty. And have a place to nap…

8. These lanterns are beautiful in a pair, perhaps hanging over the desk or bed. They add a hint of glamour to the room, since some of our jobs feel like anything but.

9. This curio would be the perfect display for some keepsakes and fave books. Free of little hands. They would look particularly awesome backed in this vinyl decal in a repetitive pattern. (In white.)

10. This side table adds a touch of beauty to the room, and would work great beside the bed. The lamp is unabashedly pink, and offers a touch of whimsy and femininity, to complete the look.
