Cottage Chic : A Little Girl’s Space

February 9, 2011

This room is yet another example of how choosing simple bones with great potential, to build a room around it, can last for years. This cottage chic little girl’s room is a beautiful space with fun finishes and simple design.

1. We start with this Serena and Lily Sprout Border rug, for a splash of green in the room.

2. Bedding and window treatments in these Annette Tatum and Serena and Lily fabrics, would make for the perfect area to easily accessorize as she grows. I picture simple, breezy window panels paired with a fluffy duvet.

3. This Bradshaw Kirchofer spindle bed is a classic take on a beautiful canopy design. I love the idea of making it über girly with a pink finish.

4. This armoire does the same thing… In this yellow finish option, it brings in an added yet subtle dimension of color, and serves as a piece she’ll be handing down to her grandchildren.

5. The Jill McDonald Koo Koo Clock paintings along with this Megan and Mendy Winborg piece ring in the feeling of classic cottage with a touch of whimsy.

6. The dresser used here, with super girly scallops keep the design young and fun. I glammed them up with a touch of glimmer from these metallic knobs.

7. The paint brings the space together with a unifying shade of subtle green.

So there you have it…the perfect way to build on the classic pieces to last for years to come, along with subtle shades of color to easily accessorize as they grow. What else would you add to this little space?
